Depuis bientôt 25 ans, Oscar Wiggli mène de pair ses diverses activités artistiques. Avec de toujours surprenantes interactions entre elles. Le visuel déclenche l’acoustique et à l’inverse. La préoccupation de fixer visuellement le geste sonore, spontané, direct et imaginé par jeu, le conduit à ses Sound-Lavis ; au pinceau et à l’encre de chine, il forme des signes qui deviennent pour lui des idéogrammes sonores. Ils soutiennent sa fantaisie compositionnelle.
En 2005 il va encore plus loin avec ses Sound-Reliefs. Il crée des reliefs en papier de différentes dimensions. Leur tridimensionnalité représente le développement des sons dans l’espace et eux aussi deviennent une source d’inspiration pour inventer des sons et des enchaînements de sons. – La musique ne prend-elle pas dans l’univers artistique de Wiggli une place toujours plus grande ?

Monographies
Numerous exhibitions in museums and galleries have made Oscar
Wiggli's work well known. His forged iron sculptures, some of them
monumental in size, can be found in public as well as private collections.
2 monographies, over 40 catalogues of personal exhibitions
in museums and galleries, and many other publications document his
work as a sculptor, draughtsman, etcher, photographer and composer
of electroacoustic music.

are bilingual: French/German, with abstracts in English, while others
have appeared in separate French, German or English editions.

IROISE's first book, ZYLIA,
appeared in 1994 and is in its fourth edition in 2004. It includes

In
1979, Wiggli, intensely interested in contemporary music for years,
established his own music studio for research on sounds in response
to a deep inner need. Janine solved the technical problems of constructing
the studio.
In
1981, Wiggli presented his first electroacoustic compositions under
the label ARGOL. Ever since, his compositions could be heard during
his exhibitions.
The artist is forever reflecting on the development of
sounds in time and on their spatial dimension. His compositions show
an extremely strict structure. His scores are often represented by
graphics. On the other hand, his drawings increasingly refer to his

For
Wiggli, sculptures, drawings and musical compositions are aspects
of the same creative impulse.
In a few poetic texts published recently, he reflects
on his musical activity.
